In a luncheon to honor recipients of Newfoundland Power and Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro takeCHARGE Luminary Awards, Southwest Properties’ Atlantic Place, managed by Martek, took home The Big Award, acknowledging their success in reducing energy consumption using iBOS®, an innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution for HVAC energy efficiency.
The Luminary Awards recognize companies, organizations, communities, and individuals across Newfoundland and Labrador who are taking brilliant steps to use energy wisely – and inspiring others to do the same. The Big Award acknowledges a participant that, through energy efficient upgrades, has seen the most significant increase in their energy savings.
Atlantic Place installed iBOS® in November of 2020, with a goal to make a positive impact on the environment. “Reducing energy consumption and working toward a sustainable environment is an important mission for us, now, more than ever,” says Charlie Oliver, Martek CEO.
Atlantic Place is a 355,000 square feet office and retail space and one of the largest buildings in downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland. This year alone, the company reduced HVAC energy consumption by 16.6%, over 1,000,000 KWh, equating to over $107,000.00 in energy savings.
“It’s a proud moment for our team to see clients, like Atlantic Place, be recognized for the tremendous work they’re doing to reduce energy use,” says Jennie King, General Manager, EcoPilot Canada | USA. “They’re a shining example of what’s achievable using advanced technology.”
